Main Idea:
Jesus is the Light of the World
Scriptures:
The people who are now living in darkness will see a great light. They are now living in a very dark land. But a light will shine on them. Isaiah 9:2
Jesus spoke to the people again. He said, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness. They will have that light. They will have life." John 8:12
What this means for us:
Christmas is actually a celebration of light! It's the celebration of the Light of the whole world being born. Jesus is our Light and the Light of the whole world, and every time we see Christmas lights we can be reminded of Jesus and thank Him for making a way to be a child of God.

Nothing is impossible with God!
Scripture:
"Nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
What this means for us:
In the Christmas story we find two miraculous births. Zechariah and Elizabeth were already old in age and had not been able to have children, but the power of God made it possible for them to have John, the cousin of Jesus, who became John the Baptist. In an even more miraculous way, we know that Mary gave birth to Jesus completely through the power of the Holy Spirit. Mary had never been with Joseph, yet the angel of the Lord tells her that nothing is impossible with God.
This Christmas season, we can look at the Christmas tree itself to be reminded of the power of God's Word. One little seed, when planted, will grow into a Christmas tree. When we believe what God's Word tells us, it too is like a seed that is planted. And in the same way that the seed to grow a Christmas tree contains all the power it needs to grow into a tree, God's word always has the power it needs to produce His promises for us.

Main Idea:
Make room in your heart for Jesus!
Scripture:
While Joseph and Mary were there, the time came for the child to be born. She gave birth to her first baby. It was a boy. She wrapped him in large strips of cloth. Then she placed him in a manger. There was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:6-7
What this means for us:
The first place Mary and Joseph went didn't have any room for them. The only option they had was a barn. Many times during the Christmas season, we get so busy with the "Christmas" things that we don't allow room in our hearts for Jesus on His birthday. We go to Christmas parties, make gingerbread houses, drive around looking at Christmas lights, watch Christmas movies, open presents, and more.
This Christmas as we look at the fullness of the tree, the decorations, the gifts under the tree, and all the things we fill our calendars with, we should make plans to do something each day that honors Jesus. Let's make room in our hearts for Him and don't let Him get crowded out this year.

Main Idea:
Jesus is the BEST GIFT of all!
Scripture:
Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2:10-12
What this means for us:
We know that Jesus is truly THE gift to our whole world. It's easy to remember this because we get presents at Christmas every single year. We shop for presents and give presents and receive presents all throughout this season. And while the BIRTH of Jesus was an amazing gift, the GREATEST gift we have from Jesus is the CROSS. Jesus came to earth, not to be a baby forever, but to grow up, live a perfect life and die on the cross for us.
His REAL gift to us was His sacrifice on the cross. We read in 1 Corinthians 9:15 that we should GIVE THANKS for this 'indescribable gift.' Because of His love for us, Jesus came from heaven to earth. He knew the darkness in our hearts would never be gone until His light came to us as people. When He died on the cross, He took every part of darkness, all that sin and sickness into Himself through death on the cross. And then three days later He came back to life! He is alive today and waiting to be your best friend.
As you receive Christmas presents this year, remember that Jesus is wanting you to receive His gift too. All you do to receive this gift is to believe in your heart that Jesus came to earth as a baby, died on the cross and came back to life...and say with your mouth, "Jesus, You are my Lord! Thank You for the gift of Your life - from the manger to the cross - just for me!"
When we do this, it's like accepting that gift from Jesus. He will come into your life, get rid of all the darkness as He shines His light in and through you. Then you can have a relationship with Him forever and ever!
